I had been having problems with a bathtub draining properly ever since the bathroom was added on. The original plumber (who was hired by the general contractor) stated that the drains were clogged and wanted to charge me $350 to inspect the drains with a video camera. I had another plumber out to snake the drain for $120, but this did not fix the problem. A friend recommended that I call Brian Mack from Walteria Plumbing. The first thing Brian noticed when he got to my house was that the bathtub drain was inadequately vented (who knew drains have to be vented? I thought they just had to go down towards the sewer, not up through the roof.) Brian explained that without proper venting a vacuum is created and pipes won't drain. Brian proposed installing a drain vent up through the roof. Had the general contractor and original plumber planned the bathroom properly they could have vented the bathtub through the sink vent. Fixing the problem cost less than a video pipe inspection and snaking. I wish I had used him for the original remodel, I would have saved time, money and grief.
