We stayed at their St. Augustine rental over spring break and the home itself was lovely, however, we noted the $250 deposit was charged on Monday. On inquiry, the owners state there were missing towels, pillow cases, bike helmets, the owners closet was "ransacked" and there were dents in walls. We left everything in good condition and took nothing. I attempted to talk with the owners and never received a return call (they always immediately answered the phone when I booked the house and they were getting credit card information). Despite stating they had "double checked" before taking the deposit, they then "found" the bike helmets (they were left with the bikes just like we found them on our arrival). Sheets and towels were washed and folded except the ones used the last night which were placed in a hamper by the washer or that were still drying in the dryer. I went above and beyond to make sure everything was acceptable upon checkout. We left Sunday and the cleaning crew came Monday, over 24 hours later. I suggested they file a police report because by no means did we leave the house according to their description so either they are false accusations or someone entered the house after we left. I am quite shocked at this experience. Rented many VRBO rentals in the past and NEVER had this happen. Attempted to resolve this issue amicably to no avail. BE WARY!
